Amniox Medical said it named former Smith & Nephew (FTSE:SN, NYSE:SNN) executive Thomas Dugan as its new CEO.
Amniox, a subsidiary of TissueTech, makes amniotic membrane- and umbilical cord-based products designed to treat musculoskeletal conditions and chronic wounds.
"We are very pleased to have Tom join Amniox as chief executive officer. Tom brings a wealth of experience in the medical device industry and an impressive track record in the wound care market. There he drove significant revenue growth in the face of challenging competition," TissueTech founder & CEO Amy Tseng said in prepared remarks. "Under Aaron Smith, general manager of Amniox, we have built a strong position in the surgical and wound care markets. We believe that Tom is the right person to lead and strengthen the management team at Amniox as we grow our business and maintain our unique position in characterizing and preserving the biology and functionality of human amniotic membrane and umbilical cord to deliver the benefits of regenerative healing across a wide variety of patients."
Dugan most recently was president of SurgiQuest, following a 5-year stint as Smith & Nephew’s North American wound management president. His résumé also includes tenures at InterVascular, Datascope, Covidien (NYSE:COV) predecessors U.S. Surgical/Tyco Healthcare, C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) and Puritan-Bennett.
“I am joining Amniox at a pivotal and exciting moment for the organization," Dugan said in a statement. "We have had tremendous growth in both the wound care and surgical markets, and I am confident my partnership with Aaron and his team will be characterized by success. Additionally, with our industry leadership position as the only provider of a human tissue matrix composed of both umbilical cord and amniotic membrane, we can continue to accelerate the growth of the company."
