Senseonics said it raised $20 million it plans to put toward pivotal trials of its fully implantable blood glucose monitor for Type I and Type II diabetics, tapping a former Abbott and LifeScan executive to lead its sales & marketing efforts.
Current investors Anthem Capital, Delphi Ventures, Greenspring Associates, Healthcare Ventures, New Enterprise Associates and other “strategic partners” participated in the round, according to a press release. Read more
ALung raises $10M for Hemolung

ALung Technologies said it drummed up another $10 million it plans to use to continue commercializing its Hemolung respiratory assist device.
Pittsburgh-based ALung’s Hemolung device is an extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal system that works by removing carbon dioxide and delivering oxygen directly to a patient’s blood via a small catheter inserted into the jugular or femoral vein. Read more
Premia Spine confirms $7M raise for spinal fusion alternative

Israeli device maker Premia Spine confirmed today that it had raised $7 million, planning on using part of the funds to pursue FDA approval for its spinal fixation devices.
CEO Ron Sacher told MassDevice.com today that the reports about the company’s latest fundraising efforts are true, and that Premia is looking to raise another $3 million to close out the financing round. Read more
Spinal Kinetics reels in $34M, settles patent spat with DePuy Synthes

Spinal Kinetics said it raised a $34 million funding round it plans to use to back a clinical trial for its M6-C cervical disc implant and inked a global settlement of its patent spat with Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes division.
The funding round was led by prior backers Scale Venture Partners, Lumira Capital, De Novo Ventures, SV Life Sciences and HLM Ventures, according to a press release. Read more
TAVI: Transcatheter Technologies lands 2nd Series B tranche

Transcatheter Technologies GmbH said it raised the 2nd tranche in its Series B round for its 3rd-generation replacement heart valve.
The tranche takes the German transcatheter aortic heart implant developer’s total raise to nearly $7.2 million, a spokesman told MassDevice.com this morning. Read more
